Approximately 40 students from BLE visited Carrington College in Mesquite, TX and participated in their annual Career Exploration Day. The students were able to visit classes, speak with current Carrington students, tour the campus and learn about each of the programs of study the campus offers. Additionally, the students also visited a dental and nursing lab to observe the students during practicals and discuss their future plans with the director of the college. They received gift bags from the campus staff and students - complete with snacks.
The students concluded the day at Belt Line with a visit from Dr. Roy Youngblood from Parker College of Chiropractic and Dr. Raymond E. Newsome, DC. During this assembly, the students were able to view a replica of a spine, learn about the different parts of the body, what a chiropractor does, and one lucky student was selected as the assistant and received her own white lab coat. We are excited about the opportunities afforded to our scholars, and we look forward to exposing them to much more.
“It was a fun cool experience because we got to see some of the students work on the mannequin. Some of the mannequins were able to moan and look around like real sick people. They showed us how they made dentures and a machine that puts plastic on your teeth to stop you from grinding your teeth at night.”  – A. Delgado (5th Grade, Belt Line Elem.)
